About the Author
From 1965 to 1970 Anne Wyman served as the first Travel Editor at The Boston Globe. At a time when most Americans had never flown on even a domestic flight, her articles sent from around the world were a revelation to her readers. Her voyages took her to every continent except Antarctica. She went behind the Iron Curtain, into the wilds of Alaska, out to the hot deserts of Australia, and through the hustle and bustle of Hong Kong. In the era before cellphones and email, she filed her typewritten stories on paper, frequently by handing them to United States-bound stewardesses on Pan American World Airways. In the 1970s, Wyman went on to head up the paper's editorial pages and The Globe won a Pulitzer for its coverage of the Boston school busing controversy. Today, no longer working for the paper, Anne Wyman continues to write and still lives in her beloved Cambridge, Massachusetts.
