Aging Gracefully With Dignity, Integrity and Spunk Intact: Aging Defiantly

Norma Roth is an attorney, educator and writer. She previously held positions as Director of Summer School admissions at Harvard University; first Executive Director of the Simmons Program for Management Development; Director of the Federation of Organizations for Professional Women at the Wellesley College Research Center where she guided research towards women moving into management positions. She later became an Adjunct Professor at the University of New Hampshire. She was recently named one of the Outstanding Professional Women in the Country by NAPW (National Association of Professional Women). Ms. Roth has lived in Cambridge since 1970 and currently resides in Lincoln, New Hampshire where she goes cross-country skiing in the winter and plays tennis in the summer. In her new book, Ms. Roth asserts: while science is predicting that members of the Silver Generation and Baby Boomers face unlimited opportunities and expanded possibilities, outmoded societal attitudes would send those who enter "that age," out to pasture. Her book is a practical roadmap to the "lifelong developing process' that Erik Erikson and his wife Joan foresaw in "Vital Involvement in Old Age" and "The Life Cycle Completed: Extended Version." Roth sees a larger landscape of continued development, participation and contributions for those entering "that age”, including the smart and savvy Baby Boomers.
