Harvard Book Store Supports the CommunityParticipate in Our Annual Giveback Program Harvard Book Store has been an integral and committed part of the Cambridge/Boston community since 1932. Our community has fostered resources for the less fortunate, and each year Harvard Book Store does its part to support these resources. this year we will undertake our third annual Giveback Program. The program works like this: the days following Thanksgiving (Friday, Saturday, and Sunday -- Nov. 23-25) and each Sunday thereafter until Christmas (Dec. 2, 9, 16, 23) are designated Giveback Days. On those days, Harvard Book Store will donate 2% of its sales to charity. The theme of this year's program is food, clothing and shelter and we will be sending the donation to The Pine Street Inn, Community Servings and Project Bread/The Walk for Hunger. The Pine Street Inn is New England's largest resource for homeless women and men, serving 1,300 people each day. The mission of Community Servings is to deliver free hot, nutritious meals to people living with AIDS who are too ill to shop or cook for themselves and those dependent on them for meals. Project Bread is dedicated to alleviating, preventing and ending hunger in Massachusetts. Visit their web sites to find out more about the organizations. We will also have literature about each program on our front table during the Giveback Program.
We are very proud of the work being done by these three groups and proud that we can be a part of it. We look forward to seeing you in the store throughout the holiday season, but we hope you will be especially mindful of our Giveback Days and help us make this year's Giveback Program a huge success. Thank you for shopping at Harvard Book Store. |
