Profile of Werner SollorsThe Harvard Book Store is proud to continue its Friday Forum series with a talk by Werner Sollors, Professor of English Literature and Afro-American Studies at Harvard University. Professor Sollors is also Chair, Committee on Higher Degrees in the History of American Civilization, and Director of Undergraduate Studies, Department of English and American Language and Literature. Professor Sollors received his doctorate in philosophy at Freie Universitat, Berlin in 1975. He served as Assistant and Associate Professor of English and Comparative Literature at Columbia University, and at the John F. Kennedy Institut, Freie Universitat, Berlin. He has been a visiting professor at Muchen, Berlin, Bern, Hebrew University, Jerusalem, and Universita degli Studi di Venezia. Among the honors he has received are the John Simon Guggenheim Memorial Fellowship, 1981; the Walter Channing Cabot Fellowship, Harvard University, 1997-1998; and the NEH Fellowship, 1999-2000.
