Harvard Book Store Author Series Presents:
David Macaulay
Harvard Book Store is pleased to announce that on Wednesday, November 5th David Macaulay will be discussing his new book, Mosque. An author and artist who has continually stripped away the mystique of architectural structures that have long fascinated modern people, David Macaulay here reveals the methods and materials used to design and construct a mosque in late-sixteenth-century Turkey. Through the fictional story and Macaulay"s distinctive illustrations, readers will learn not only how such monumental structures were built but also how they functioned in relation to the society they served.
David Macaulay’s books have earned him numerous accolades and awards: the Caldecott Medal and Honor Awards, the Boston Globe-Horn Book Award, Christopher Award, an American Institute of Architects Medal, Washington Children’s Book Guild Nonfiction Award, Deutscher Jugendliteraturpreis, and a Dutch Silver Slate Pencil Award. He was a two-time nominee for the Hans Christian Anderson Award, and is the recipient of the Bradford Washburn Award, presented by the Museum of Science in Boston for an outstanding contributor to science. David Macaulay lives with his family in Rhode Island.
