Harvard Book Store is pleased to announce that on Tuesday, December 9th Nicholas Basbanes will be reading from and speaking about his new book, A Splendor of Letters: The Permanence of Books in an Impermanent World. In A Splendor of Letters, Nicholas Basbanes continues the lively, richly anecdotal exploration of book people, places, and culture he began in 1995 with A Gentle Madness and expanded in 2001 with Patience & Fortitude.

Author Biography:

Nicholas Basbanes, an award-winning investigative reporter during the early 1970s, was literary editor of the Worcester Sunday Telegram from 1978 to 1991. He is a former president of the Friends of the Robert H. Goddard Library of Clark University. He lives in North Grafton, Massachusetts and is also the author of Among the Gently Mad, a book on collecting.
