Michael's Recommended Books: , by Douglas Coupland The quintessential Coupland novel. 200+ pages of snazzy dialogue, hip characters, and pop culture references converge at the end into a depth and poignancy that will take your breath away. And the best shorthand method of introducing his characters that I've ever seen. , by Bill Bryson Bryson takes his hilarious show on the road to search for the archetypical American small town. Full of wry observations, hilarious digressions, and clever wordplay. , by C.D. Payne A book that defies easy description. Nick Twisp will stop at nothing - scheming, conniving, arson, transvestitism (don't ask) - to win the girl of his dreams. Intricately plotted and laugh-out-loud funny. One of the most entertaining books I've ever read. , by Mark Leyner Everyone in Leyner's latest faux-autobiographical hodgepodge is alarmingly precocious and erudite. He is a genius at creating absurdities and non-sequiturs (try a movie review in the middle of a screenplay in the middle of a memoir). Get ready for Mr. Leyner's Wild Ride.
