Danielle Recommends:
, by Alice Munro

Michael Allin chronicles the journey of a remarkable animal, packing in enough history and giraffe lore to guarantee a unique and fascinating read, by Ken Cuthbertson

"Hillbilly Noir" is the best description of Woodrell's writing that I've come across. Tomato Red is a slick rendering of hapless, poetic, criminal-types set in the Ozarks. The Simon and Schuster Encyclopedia of Animals : A Visual Who's Who of the World's Creatures, by Philip Whitfield
An absolutely gorgeous and comprehensive catalog of the vertebrates. It's worth having for the illustrations alone, but the descriptions and overviews are written by expert zoologists, making it a fine reference for the non-scientist.
