Mark Zanger

Harvard Book Store is pleased to announce that on Tuesday, September 16th Mark Zanger will be reading from his new book, The American History Cookbook. In this, the only cookbook with 350 recipes from all parts of American history, Mark Zanger presents the ingredients, recipes, and culinary traditions that have kept ethnic communities in America together. The book is meant to be a resource for students learning about the diversity of American culture and includes recipes such as Filipino boiled chicken, Haitian griots, and Shawnee Indian brownies.

Author Biography:

Most people in Boston know Mark Zanger as Robert Nadeau, restaurant critic of The Boston Phoenix. Under his other identity he has published Robert Nadeau's Guide to Boston Restaurants. Mark's other titles include Grandma’s Handwritten Recipes, and The American Ethnic Cookbook for Students, and his articles have appeared in Conde Nast’s The Traveler, Vogue, The Nation, and Boston Magazine. Mark is also reputed to be the model for the cartoon character "Megaphone Mark Slackmeyer" in Gary Trudeau's comic strip Doonesbury. Mark lives in Jamaica Plain with his wife, and two children.
