Harvard Book Store Author Series Presents:
Kaethe Weingarten
Harvard Book Store is pleased to announce that on Thursday, September 25th Kaethe Weingarten will be reading from her new book, Common Shock: Witnessing Violence Every Day: How We Are Harmed, How We Can Heal. Witnessing violence is epidemic in our society, whether it is the collective trauma of September 11th, or the mundane ritual of watching the evening news. Now, trauma expert Dr. Kaethe Weingarten shows us how our personal responses to violence play out in the home, and in society. She also offers advice about how we can transform these violating experiences into compassionate ones.
Kaethe Weingarten, Ph.D., Associate Clinical Professor in Harvard’s Department of Psychiatry, has been on the faculty of the Harvard Medical School since 1979. Dr. Weingarten has also taught in Africa, Australia, Canada, Europe, and New Zealand. She lives in Newton, MA. |
