Scott Turow
Harvard Book Store is thrilled to announce that on Thursday, October 9th Scott Turow
will be reading from his new book, Ultimate Punishment: A Lawyer’s Reflections on Dealing with
the Death Penalty. In this vivid account of how his views on the death penalty have evolved
over the years, Turow analyzes the potent reasons for and against the death penalty and tells
the powerful stories behind the statistics, as he moves from the Governor’s Mansion to a
“super-max” prison and execution chamber in Illinois. He also his recent service on the Illinois
commission that investigated the administration of the death penalty and influenced Governor
George Ryan’s unprecedented commutation of 164 death row inmates on his last day in office.
Scott Turow is known to millions as the author of six bestsellling novels about the law,
from Presumed Innocent to Reversible Errors. He lives with his family in Chicago,
where he is a partner in the firm of Sonnenschein, Nath & Rosenthal.
