Nancy Milford
Savage Beauty: The Life Of Edna St. Vincent Millay

Sackler Museum, 485 Broadway. 6PM. Tickets available at Harvard Book Store.

Nancy Milford, whose biography of Zelda Fitzgerald was a Pulitzer Prize and National Book Award finalist, presents Savage Beauty: The Life Of Edna St. Vincent Millay. Milford is editing a new edition of Millay's poetry for the Modern Library, which will coincide with the publication of Savage Beauty. Milford completely captures her passionate and fearless subject - the voice of the Jazz Age, the herald of the New Woman, and one of America's greatest poets.

Nancy Milford means to recover Edna St. Vincent Millay from relative obscurity and put her back in her place as one of the great literary figures in the twentieth century. Millay was the first woman to win the Pulitzer Prize and she lived an extraordinary life alongside her extraordinary work, gaining celebrity, notoriety, and admiration. Milford received exclusive access to Millay's papers -- a remarkable collection that provides a glimpse into this brilliant free spirit.
