Harvard Book Store Author Series Presents:
Sarah Levin and William D. Adams
Harvard Book Store is pleased to announce that on Monday, December 1st Sarah Levin will be in discussion about her book, Reclaiming the Game: College Sports and Educational Values, with Colby College President William D. Adams. Over the last four decades, the athletic-academic divide on elite campuses has widened substantially. This book examines the forces that have been driving this process and presents concrete proposals for reform. At its core, Reclaiming the Game is an argument for re-establishing athletics as a means of fulfilling - instead of undermining - the educational missions of our colleges and universities.
A former All-American collegiate athlete, Sarah Levin is a doctoral student at the Harvard School of Public Health and a research associate at The Andrew W. Mellon Foundation. William D. Adams became Colby's 19th president in 2000, after an extremely successful tenure as president of Bucknell University in Pennsylvania. Prior to leading Bucknell he taught political philosophy at the university level, coordinated the Great Works in Western Culture program at Stanford University, and was vice president and secretary of Wesleyan University in Connecticut.
