Harvard Book Store Author Series Presents:
Emily Franklin
Harvard Book Store is pleased to announce that on Thursday, October 2nd local author Emily Franklin will be reading from her first novel, Liner Notes – a story that stems from a box of mix tapes and has a built-in soundtrack. With 3,000 miles ahead of her and a box full of mix tapes, Laney envisions her cross-country
drive as the perfect chance to reflect on her past. Her most treasured memories, including first
camp kisses and high school crushes, are only a song away. Then her mother decides to join her,
and Laney ends up giving her a crash course not only in the pop songs of the ‘70s and ‘80s but
also in her own life.
Emily Franklin has done just about everything. She split her formative years between London and
Boston. She studied at Oxford University, and after graduating from Sarah Lawrence College, she
worked as a chef on historic and luxury yachts, an English teacher, and a freelance writer before
earning a graduate degree from Dartmouth College. Currently, she lives in Newton, Massachusetts,
where she works for National Public Radio’s Car Talk.
