Harvard Book Store Author Series Presents:
Marc Abrahams
On October 2nd, Harvard University hosts the wildly popular Ig Nobel Awards at Sanders Theater, celebrating the past year’s wackiest achievements in science, economics, and peace. Tickets for this one are hard to come by, but you don’t need tickets for Harvard Book Store’s event with Ig Nobel Originator Marc Abrahams when he talks about the awards the following week. Harvard Book Store is pleased to announce that on Tuesday, October 7th Marc Abrahams
will be talking about his book, The Ig Nobel Prizes: The Annals of Improbable Research. Read
about the professor who proved that toast falls buttered-side-down more often than not and the Southern
Baptist Church of Alabama, which devised a formula to determine how many Alabamans will go to Hell.
An entertaining exhibition of brains and determination, The Ig Nobel Prizes is ideal for anyone
who first wants to laugh and then wants to think.
Marc Abrahams is the editor and co-founder of the science humor magazine
Annals of Improbable Research (AIR), its online counterpart,
www.improbable.com, and the monthly e-newsletter mini-AIR. The founder of the annual
Ig Nobel Prize Ceremony at Harvard University, Abrahams has a degree in applied mathematics from
Harvard. He lives in Cambridge, Massachusetts.
