This holiday season at Harvard Book Store and harvardsquarebookstore.com, shop with us every Sunday of December (before the 25th) and a portion of every purchase will go to support important local organizations doing wonderful things for our community. Your purchases will help support 826 Boston, Cambridge Public Library Literacy Project, Community Servings, and Partners in Health.

Harvard Book Store Gives Back The Gives Back program is a way for Harvard Book Store to contribute to local nonprofits during the holidays. On four consecutive Sundays a percentage of in-store and online sales will go to our selected charitable organizations.

826 National is a nonprofit organization that provides strategic leadership, administration, and other resources to ensure the success of its network of eight writing and tutoring centers. 826 centers offer a variety of inventive programs that provide under-resourced students, ages 6-18, with opportunities to explore their creativity and improve their writing skills. Learn more about 826 Boston here.

Cambridge Public Library Literacy Project serves the learning needs of adults and their children. Typical learners include immigrants who are non-native English speakers, who want to improve their spoken and written English; adults who want to prepare for the GED, TOEFL exam, citizenship exam, driver's license exam, and other civil service or professional licensing exams; adults who are in community colleges and need help with homework; adults who want to study computer basics (Word, internet and email); and children of these learners who need help with homework or need to improve their basic academic skills. The Literacy Project offers organized classes in English conversation, citizenship, job hunting/resume writing, and computers. Learn more about the Literacy Project here.

Community Servings is a not-for-profit food and nutrition program providing services throughout Massachusetts to individuals and families living with critical and chronic illnesses. They give clients, their dependent families, and caregivers appealing, nutritious meals, and send the message to those in greatest need that someone cares. Community Servings aims to help clients maintain their health and dignity and preserve the integrity of their families through free, culturally appropriate, home-delivered meals, nutrition education, and other community programs. Learn more about Community Servings here.

Partners In Health is an international health organization relentlessly committed to improving the health of the poor and marginalized. They build local capacity and work closely with impoverished communities to deliver high-quality health care, address the root causes of illness, train providers, advance research and advocate for global policy change.
