Harvard Book Store is excited to join the rest of the local literary community for the fifth Boston Book Festival, October 17–19. The Boston Book Festival celebrates the power of words to stimulate, agitate, unite, delight, and inspire by holding year-round events culminating in an annual, free Festival that promotes a culture of reading and ideas and enhances the vibrancy of our city.

The Boston Book Festival brings together writers whose work is about terror and terrorism. Whether writing to induce terror or writing about the minds of those who seek to terrify, they plumb the depths of the psyche to explore fear. Former CIA operative Valerie Plame Wilson draws on her spy experience in her novel, Blowback, while Mary Louise Kelly, who covered the intelligence community for NPR, writes about nuclear terrorism in Anonymous Sources. Writer, director, producer and actor Wes Craven is a master of the thriller, including Nightmare on Elm Street and The Hills Have Eyes. Terrorism expert Jessica Stern comes to the subject with a history of having been terrorized, which she describes in Denial: A Memoir. Moderated by Time magazine’s political columnist, Joe Klein. Sponsored by Boston Metro.

Tickets are available for $12 (lower orchestra) or $6 (upper orchestra).

Tickets are on sale through Boston Book Fest.

We highly recommend using Boston’s public transit system, the MBTA, to get to Copley Square. It’s easy, inexpensive, and best of all, you can spend your travel time doing what you do best: reading!

Take the “T” to the Copley stop on the Green Line and exit onto Copley Square (and the Boston Book Festival!). For detailed directions, go to the MBTA “Trip Planner.” Enter “Copley Station” as your end address.

From the commuter rail (Framingham/Worcester line, Needham line, Franklin line, and Providence/Stoughton line), get off at the Back Bay Station. Walk 0.1 miles northeast along Dartmouth Street toward Huntington Avenue.
